West Africa’s agriculture sector is one of the most commercially significant and rapidly evolving on the African continent. It employs approximately 60% of the region’s workforce, representing nearly 290 million people, and accounts for 35% of regional GDP. Furthermore, it sits at the heart of a continental food and agriculture market that the African Development Bank has forecast will grow from US$280 billion to a staggering US$1 trillion per year by 2030, driven by urbanisation, population growth, rising incomes, and the expanding commercial architecture of the African Continental Free Trade Area.

Yet for businesses, investors, and innovators seeking to access the West African agricultural market, finding a single, credible, globally connected platform where the entire sector converges has historically been a challenge. That gap is precisely what the West Africa Agri Show (WAAS) was built to fill.
The 2nd West Africa Agri Show is a leading international exhibition and conference dedicated to transforming agriculture across West Africa. Building on the success of the first edition, the second edition brings together farmers, agribusiness leaders, policymakers, investors, innovators, and technology providers under one roof to accelerate sustainable agricultural growth in the region.
The event will take place at the Grand Arena, Accra International Conference Centre, Castle Road, Accra, Ghana, on 29 and 30 September 2026. Furthermore, this year’s edition will be co-hosted with the 3rd National Annual Livestock Day, adding a dedicated livestock sector dimension to an already comprehensive agricultural platform and making the 2026 edition the most expansive West Africa Agri Show to date.
Why Accra and Why Now
Ghana is not simply a convenient host for the West Africa Agri Show. It is the most strategically appropriate one. Ghana is the second largest producer of cocoa in the world and the fourth largest producer of cassava. It also produces maize, tomato, and rice, among many other food crops. According to Ghana’s Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Ghana imported US$900 million in agricultural technology, equipment, and supplies to support this sector, with leading import categories including herbicides, insecticides, fertilisers, agrochemicals, tractor parts and accessories, pumps and motors, tractors, and hand tools.
This US$900 million import figure is consequently one of the most important data points any agritech company or agricultural input supplier needs to understand about the West African market. It demonstrates that Ghanaian farmers and agribusinesses are already spending at scale on the technologies and inputs that improve their productivity. The question for international companies is therefore not whether the demand exists, but whether they have a presence in the market to capture it.
Furthermore, with West Africa advancing toward food self-sufficiency through mechanisation in agriculture, Ghana serves as the regional hub and centre of business and agricultural transformation in West Africa and a leader in AfCFTA implementation, with policies like Planting for Food, Jobs and Exports and the One District One Factory initiative positioning the country as the most favourable entry point for agribusiness investment across the entire region.
As Tahir Abdul Bari, CEO of TAB Group, the event’s organiser, has noted: “Africa is not the market of the future. It is the market of today. The businesses that build relationships here now will lead the next decade of global agri-food trade.”
What the 2026 Edition Will Showcase
The 2nd West Africa Agri Show showcases the latest solutions in agri-technology, mechanisation, inputs, livestock, irrigation, food processing, and smart farming, creating powerful opportunities for business, learning, and collaboration.
The exhibition floor will consequently feature a comprehensive cross-section of the agricultural value chain, covering every major technology and solution category that West African farmers, agribusinesses, and food processors are actively seeking. Key exhibition sectors include agri-technology and precision farming solutions, agricultural mechanisation and equipment, crop production inputs including seeds, fertilisers, and agrochemicals, irrigation and water management systems, food processing and packaging machinery, cold chain and post-harvest technology, animal feed and livestock nutrition, veterinary pharmaceuticals and animal health solutions, breeding and genetics innovations for livestock and poultry, farm management software and IoT solutions, and waste management and biogas solutions.
Beyond the exhibition floor, high-level conference sessions and panel discussions bring together industry experts, government representatives, and thought leaders to address the defining issues of West African agriculture today, including climate-smart farming, food security, agri-finance, and the role of youth in building the region’s agricultural future.
The 3rd National Annual Livestock Day: A Dedicated Sector Platform
One of the most significant additions to the 2026 edition is the co-hosting of the 3rd National Annual Livestock Day, which runs alongside the main West Africa Agri Show across both days of the event.
The National Annual Livestock Day is a dedicated platform focused on advancing the livestock sector across the region, bringing together livestock farmers, breeders, veterinarians, industry experts, and solution providers to explore the latest innovations and opportunities in animal agriculture.
The timing of this livestock focus is particularly important. Africa’s poultry feed market alone is set to expand from US$14.48 billion in 2025 to US$17.45 billion by 2030, fuelled by urbanisation, growing consumer wealth, and the continent-wide trade integration that AfCFTA is enabling. Furthermore, as AAN has documented in its coverage of livestock farming and value addition across East Africa, the demand for premium processed livestock products and the technologies that support their production is growing rapidly across the continent.
For companies operating in animal nutrition, veterinary solutions, livestock housing, dairy processing, and breeding technologies, the National Livestock Day consequently provides a uniquely focused audience and an unparalleled networking opportunity within the broader WAAS platform.
Who Will Attend and Who Should Exhibit
The West Africa Agri Show brings together farmers, agribusiness leaders, investors, policymakers, researchers, and innovators from across the region, with over 150 exhibitors and keynote speakers covering topics including precision farming, climate-smart agriculture, and agri-fintech.
The 2026 edition is furthermore expected to attract an even broader international exhibitor base, with companies from India, South Africa, Turkey, Nigeria, the United Kingdom, Italy, France, and other markets joining Ghanaian and West African exhibitors to showcase their solutions to a qualified audience of buyers, distributors, investors, and agricultural decision-makers from across the region.
The expo will be a great platform for exhibiting companies from different countries to meet with close to 5,000 Ghanaian and West African business and professional visitors directly and indirectly linked to the sector, from agribusiness companies, commercial and small farmers and farmer groups, food and beverage industries, importers, distributors, wholesalers, retail chains and supermarkets of foodstuffs and agriculture items. The event is organised under the auspices of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Ghana, with the support of the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ghana.
Furthermore, institutional support from organisations including the West African Chamber of Agriculture (WACOA), CropLife Ghana, the Ghana Union of Traders Association, the Food and Beverage Association of Ghana, and the Federation of Farmer Organisation Network of Ghana adds a powerful layer of credibility and stakeholder connectivity to the event’s programme.
